Trams

As with all means of transportation, Trams should prioritise the safety of all passengers.

To help ensure the safety of passengers, trams should include safety measures such as the provision of the appropriate emergency and fire-fighting equipment. However, in order to be readily accessed in an emergency situation the equipment location and type must be indicated correctly by the appropriate safety signage.

The primary function of photoluminescent safety signage is to provide users with an immediate and unequivocal message about the location, type and (where appropriate) the correct and safe operation of such equipment; even in reduced or no-light situations. Photoluminescent signage and evacuation systems are especially relevant when indicating the means of escape throughout the escape routes.
